ANNOUNCEMENTS

The 50th Reunion invitation announcement has been posted on our QV72 class website for about two weeks. (FYI - It is directly below this announcement! Just scroll down to read it and login to complete the survey. Use the "Click Here" or "Contact Us" box if you have login issues.)

Currently we have 41 responses indicating 62 likely attendees. There are approximately 220 invitee's and since our last classwide email was sent to 185 persons (with zero returned as undeliverable) it seems we are reaching most of the class.

Considering that you can change your survey selections if you need to and payment is not immediately required - we are puzzled at the somewhat tepid response.

Our QV72 class website; quakervalley72.com

is the most efficient and secure way for all of us to communicate. There should be no need to 'snail mail' 220 invitations or RSVP cards requiring postage expenses, excessive delivery/return time and manual tabulation. With PayPal, the payment process is also much cleaner and easier with automated, error-free accounting and direct deposits.

If you have not already done so, please read through the invitation and answer the two question survey at the bottom of same. Please.

We are depending on each of you to actively participate in this worthwhile endeavor! Success requires TEAMWORK!

Thank you!

QV72 50th Reunion Committee

Dear Quaker Valley Class of 1972 Classmate:

We had a blast at our Fabulous Fortieth and Forty-fifth Reunion weekends in 2012 and 2017! We are now "experienced" enough to really know that still waters do run deep and the greatest distance we have to travel is within us!

Since the last reunion was a big success, we are planning our We Made It to Our Fiftieth Reunion Weekend to be held the weekend of September 24 and 25, 2022.

Festivities for this special celebration include three events.

#1 - On Friday evening September 23rd (for early arrivals and locals who just can’t wait!), a casual “Pre-union” (cash bar) get together at Fermata Brewing Company, 918 Merchant Street, Ambridge, PA 15003.

#2 - On Saturday September 24th  for the Main event, we have reserved the modern and comfortable Blueberry Hill Park Activity Center at 1603 Blaines Way, Sewickley, PA from 3PM - 9PM. That's SIX HOURS to reacquaint, mix and mingle!

A catered appetizer and buffet style dinner (menu below) will be presented by “Beyond Parsley” and don't be surprised if our classmates bring some homemade treats for all to enjoy! Light adult beverages and soft drinks will also be on hand.

#3 - On Sunday, September 25th to wrap up our official reunion weekend, a mid-day brunch buffet (menu below) is reserved for our class from 10AM – 1pm 11AM - 2:30PM (Time changed on 07-12-22 per SHGC) at Sewickley Heights Golf Club, 126 Backbone Road, Sewickley, PA.

The cost to attend the reunion party and dinner on Saturday is $50 per person and the brunch on Sunday is $40 per person. Payment is requested no later than August 31, 2022. We will accept PayPal -  ( https://paypal.me/QV72?locale.x=en_US )

or your personal check payable to “QV Class of 72 Reunion” mailed to either;

Tom Gerle 186 South McCoy Place Rd Sewickley, PA 15143

Jean Kester 8195 Ohio River Blvd. Pittsburgh, PA 15202

Debbie Emmert 72 Linden Place Sewickley, PA 15143

Your 50th reunion reservation payment may be submitted anytime from now until August 31, (but sooner is easier for book-keeping)!

We request that all classmates please complete the two question survey below ASAP. We need to know your decision, even if you are not attending

We have reserved a block of rooms for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights at the Hampton Inn Wexford/Sewickley - 2622 Wexford Bayne Rd, Sewickley, PA and the Doubletree Airport - 8402 University Blvd, Coraopolis, PA. The Hampton offers a single bed King for $109/day or two Queens for $119/day. The Doubletree offers either a single King or two Queens for $129/day. The Doubletree also offers an airport shuttle service.

(FYI - the Hampton Wexford is farther from the airport but closer to the reunion venues while the Doubletree is well, vice versa! Also, the I-79 ramp onto Neville Island is reported to be closed for construction, so the Fairfield Inn - where you might have stayed before - may not be a good choice.)

You may use the 1-800-HILTONS reservations number or call your hotel choice directly [Hampton @ 412-528-1901 or Doubletree @ 412-329-1400] to make room reservations. Be sure to tell them that you are with the QV 50th reunion. Rooms must be booked prior to August 22, 2022 to guarantee the discounted rate.

Monday - Hartford Memorial Scholarship Outing

For those classmates who would like to extend their fun weekend for a great cause, the inaugural Susan (Harger) Hartford Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing will be held at the Sewickley Heights Golf Club on Monday, September 26th. Through this memorial trust, an annual scholarship will be awarded to a graduating QV senior who has participated in the band, orchestra or chorus.

Golf will be a “Captain and Crew” style event seeking 72 “duffers” for a day of fun and fund-raising to honor Susie, our own QVHS Band president, who sadly passed in 2020. Whether you golf or not, all are welcome to join in on what will hopefully become an annual event. Rick Santry is posting more information on the golf outing in the QV72 webpage and by email. You can also contact him directly at ricksantry4663@yahoo.com.

The search is ON!

We have about 60 classmates that have not "logged in" since the last reunion. We are concerned that our reunion communications are not reaching everyone.

In that regard, if you have any contact info (married name, old addresses or phone numbers, etc.) on the following "missing" classmates, please share that with us as we seek to connect with every QV72 classmate!

Patricia Lynnette Armstrong

Judith Elise Gibbs

Michele Ann Grubbs

John Edward Klipstein, Jr.

Michael Leslie Maree

Nancy Ellen Towne

Thanks for your help and understanding! Hope to see you in September!

We've had some inquiries regarding appropriate attire for the Sunday brunch at Sewickley Heights Golf Club.  Attached is club dress code as it appears on its website.

Clubhouse Dress Code
In no case will sweat suits, cargo style shorts or pants, short shorts, athletic shorts, T-shirts, tank tops, tube tops or sleeveless shirts be
considered proper attire in the Clubhouse or on the Golf Course at any time. Shirts that are tailored to be tucked in must be worn that way.
Shoes must be worn at all times on the second floor. Men are not to wear hats in the upstairs dining areas. Please help the staff to enforce
code by monitoring the dress of your family and guests.

We extend our sympathy to the family and friends of John Yukevich who passed away on December 16, 2021.

Greetings classmates!

The 50th Reunion committee is requesting donations to cover a venue downpayment and other necessary planning expenses. The Class has established a secure PayPal account to reduce the chance of donations being lost in the mail.

https://paypal.me/QV72?locale.x=en_US

If you prefer to donate by check, make the check payable to QV Class of '72 and mail to either;

Tom Gerle - 186 S. McCoy Place - Sewickley, PA 15143

Jean Kestner - 8195 Ohio River Blvd. - Pittsburgh, PA 15202

Please understand your donation is a gift to our Class and is not a ticket pre-payment.

We hope you understand the need and are willing and able to help finance our 50th (final?) reunion. Thank you all!

"Corky"

(please let us know if you have any problem using the PayPal link.)

Believe it or not... Planning for our 2022 - 50th reunion has commenced!

Please help us efficiently communicate with you! Take a few minutes to check and update the information in your QV72 profile - especially your e-mail address!

In a week or so, we will be sending a test e-mail to every primary e-mail address in the "Classmate Profiles". When you receive it, you will know we can reach you!

Any that are returned "undeliverable" will be researched and hopefully resolved. We don't want to overlook anyone and will certainly attempt to contact all our classmates - one way or another!

AND... if you have the time, click on the "Missing Classmates" menu tab. If you have any way of contacting our missing friends, please reach out and encourage them to add their contact information to our QV72 Classmates page!

"... through the years we'll all remember our days at Valley High!"

Hope to see you in '22!

Sue Harger (Hartford) lost her four year battle with colon cancer last evening. She was an enthusiastic participant in our reunion planning and generously shared her creative talents with us when we produced our memories videos. Please keep her family in prayer as they prepare to say goodbye.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family of William Michael Braxton who passed away on May 8, 2020 at his home in Georgia.

Our classmate, John “Clyde” Pliska, passed away on April 30 in California. May he Rest In Peace.

Our prayers go out to the family and friends of Bill “Kinks” Casterton who passed away suddenly last evening.  (9/1/19) Rest easy, dear friend.

Our friend and classmate Karl Binder passed away last night (11/21/2018) following an extended illness.  May he Rest In Peace.

This is a sad week for our class. We fondly remember Kim Tobias Allman who passed away last evening (Nov . 16) following a long battle with MS.

Our friend and classmate, Mary Taylor Greene, passed away on November 15 following an extended illness.  May she Rest In Peace.

Please take a moment to remember our classmate, Debbie Hilderbrand.  We have just learned that she passed away several years ago.

I am sorry to report that Mark Mullin passed away in his home in Jacksonville, FL on March 15, 2016.

Chip will be missed. He passed away Feburary 3, 2016.

Sadly to report that we lost  another classmate. Joe Reilsono passed away January 17, 2016.

I am sad to report that Debra Jugan Unger passed away Wednesday April 24, 2013.
